In tune with the vision of Government of India, the Vision statement of Andhra Pradesh State is:
"To provide world class infrastructure with state of the art facilities in technical institutions. To train and produce through formal & non-formal methods, the skilled Engineers / Scientists and Knowledge workers in adequate numbers. To achieve socio-economic development of the state and become a major destination for skilled human resource development in the world."
During yester years the Government have played a pro-active role in the enormous expansion of Technical Education in the State, making it accessible to tens of thousands. Despite the growth to the tune of 261 Engineering colleges with 92,100 intake, the Quality of Technical Education has emerged as a matter of serious concern. In the process, the Government is committed to improve the Quality in Technical Education. |
TEQIP – World Bank assisted Project has turned out to be a moving force for betterment of Quality in Technical Education.
In TEQIP, there are two components viz.,
 Institutional Development and
 System Management Capacity Improvement
Under the Institutional Development, well performing Technical institutions will be funded on competitive selection and under the System Management Capacity Improvement – Programme Management structures viz.,
National Project Implementation Unit (NPIU), Noida at National level
State Project Facilitation Unit (SPFU) at State level and Institution Management Unit (IMU) at Institution level
are formed for Management Capacity building in implementation of TEQIP.
In the state of Andhra Pradesh, the State Project Facilitation Unit is constituted in the Directorate of Technical Education for implementing TEQIP at state level. |
